Logan’s Coronary Care Unit has marked its first anniversary in Building 3 after expanding threefold last year to bring together three different specialties to make up Wards 5A and 5B.
Internal Medicine Service Line Director Damian May gave a massive shout-out to the team and said that since their move last February, cardiac admissions had increased by almost 50 per cent.
Nurse Unit Manager Martin Matimbire said he was extremely proud of his team and reflected on how quickly the past year had flown by.
“It feels like we moved in just yesterday,” he said. “Congratulations to everyone for coming on this journey and for their hard work and dedication. It has been fantastic to see how we’ve grown as a team and continue to evolve through peer-to-peer feedback and recognition.”
To mark the milestone, Martin unveiled a special gift to the unit - a custom artwork featuring the names of every team member from day one to now.
While there were a few jokes about the image not being anatomically correct, the ‘heart’-felt gesture was clearly appreciated by all.
