Congratulations to graduate midwife Casey Barton – this year’s recipient of Logan Hospital’s Janelle Pettit Memorial Award.

Now in its seventh year, this special award honours the late Janelle Pettit, a highly skilled and passionate midwife who was deeply loved by her colleagues and the families she cared for at Logan Hospital.

Nursing and Midwifery Director Hannah Gaj said the award was presented each year to the graduate midwife who best embodied Janelle’s passion for supporting new mums, their babies, and their families, as voted by maternity and neonatal staff.

"I was honoured to stand alongside Janelle’s family to present Casey with this year’s award," Hannah said.

"The many nominations for Casey highlighted her compassion, positivity, and warmth."

One nomination particularly stood out, sharing that Janelle would have loved Casey.

"She is so beautiful with women and staff. As a team leader, she is always safe, upbeat, and lovely to work with," the nomination read.

Well done, Casey! Your passion for midwifery shines bright, and you are truly deserving of this honour.
