The PA Hospital Emergency Department have provided evidence once again that their team love language is providing an explosion of thoughtfulness through food, colour and frivolity with yet another amazing event on R U OK? Day.

The teamwork was significant across all three shifts with staff on day, afternoon and night shifts all contributing to the yellow-themed festivities.

Clinical Nurse Moz Wallace, who is one half of the ED’s fun care-mittee, has been an essential member of the ED team for over ten years and said this local event was organised for everyone to come together for R U OK? Day as a reinforcement of the need to ask the question, R U OK?

“PA ED is just a great place to work,” Moz said. “We have a really supportive team and everyone looks after each other. It’s like a family and we all have each other’s backs on the good days and the bad days.

“Our team approach is laughing and crying through it all; with pats on the back to acknowledge and a shoulder for support which helps to keep each other going.”

She said ED embraces all event opportunities to come together to do something fun and this creates a spark within the team with people talking about their ideas on what to bring and make it an uplifting experience for everyone.

Registered Nurse Candice Rayner was quite the sensation out on the ED floor receiving a lot of ‘wow!’s for her yellow-inspired garb.

“Ironically our PAH Emergency Department ‘acute area’ is the yellow end of the department so I’m the yellow team leader, which is totally appropriate for today’s focus, R U OK?”

Candice, who has been on a clinical sojourn around the globe from PA to the UK, then Melbourne, and now back to PA, is a keen advocate of creating fun and team morale in the workplace by dressing up for special occasions.

“Today is about making people happy which is important after the last few years we have had, so it is a joy for me to do that and reinforce checking-in with each other.”
