Colorectal Clinical Nurse Consultant Sharon Price

With over 20 years’ experience, Colorectal Clinical Nurse Consultant Sharon Price is distinguished by her wealth of nursing knowledge, her willingness to assist when needed, and for demonstrating exemplary compassion and empathy towards patients.

Sharon obtained her nursing qualification in the UK, where she worked across various surgical wards before emigrating to Australia 19 years ago.

Since then, Sharon has worked on the colorectal/ENT and plastics ward at Greenslopes Private Hospital and the gastroenterology/colorectal ward at PAH, before joining QEII in 2014.

“My background has always included the care of colorectal patients in a ward-based environment. I was keen to be involved in their outpatient journey, too so that’s what ultimately led me into a clinical consultant role.”

Sharon took out QEII’s 2023 International Nurses Day award for Excellence and says it’s wonderful to be recognised for her commitment to her patients and her unit as she closes in on a decade of service at QEII.

She says the team culture and the multidisciplinary approach to patient care is what makes QEII a great place to work.

“The team I work with is fantastic, including nursing, medical, allied health, and administration.

“The team takes as multidisciplinary approach to the care of patients with both functional colorectal issues and with a diagnosis of bowel cancer. My favourite thing about the role is knowing that we can make a positive difference in a patient’s journey.”

Sharon has her sights set a future where service growth at QEII drives better accessibility for colorectal patients.

“I look forward to seeing more expansion in our service, so that a wider group of people can have better access to our services.”
