In a heartwarming ceremony this week 10-year-old Brennan Tafea rang the bell to mark the end of his cancer treatment.

After being diagnosed with a brain tumour late late last year, Brennan underwent four cycles of chemotherapy followed by a rigorous four-week cycle of radiation.

Accompanied by his beloved companion 'Teddy,' who has been by his side every step of the way, Brennan’s milestone was commemorated with a special teddy bear's picnic theme.

Brennan said it felt great to be ringing the bell and in remission as it brought closure to all that he had been through.

"I am happy," he said.

The brave young man also said while he would miss the hospital family he would not miss being in hospital.

Children completing chemotherapy have marked their celebration with a ringing of the bell ceremony at Logan Hospital since 2018.

Clinical Nurse Candace Chisholm said each ceremony was an emotional time and something that the team felt privileged to witness.
