Our history

Our former matron, Doris Broomfield, founded the Past and Present Nurses Association (PPNA) in 1967 to:

  • support nursing education
  • offer fundraising activities for our nurses, patients and hospital
  • promote friendships between our past and present nurses.

We have over 300 members and a long history of supporting our nurses and Princess Alexandra Hospital (PA Hospital).

Our work and events

Our committee meets every month to plan our nurse education, fundraising events and priorities.

We also host regular events for our members including:

  • annual general meeting (AGM) in November
  • education days with guest speakers
  • fundraising events including raffles and cake stalls.

When you join, we'll add you to our newsletter mailing list so you can get the latest news and invites for our work and events.

We also represent our nurses at annual hospital events including Anzac Day, International Nurses Day and Centaur Memorial Fund for Nurses.
